I’m looking forward to seeing two films tonight at the LGBT Center, which I’ve always wanted to visit. Transparent and Just Call Me Kade will take me on a journey I’ve only experienced a few times via film (such as Southern Comfort). I’m so impressed that some of the folks I know and work with are willing and ready to see films like this.
Quakerism asks of us to see “that of God in everyone,” and it’s been an unfortunately difficult road for some Quakers living in Asheville, NC. I feel lucky that my Quaker meeting is engaging with diversity in a way that is expansive and progressive, and I hope to do my part.
